Abstract : the physical significances of the reaching law parameters and the qualitative relationships among them in variable structure control ( vsc ) are analyzed . according to the relationships , a reaching law control method is put forward based on fuzzy rules . to improve control quality , the reaching law parameters are selected by fuzzy rules . the control scheme presented in this paper not only preserves the advantages of traditional reaching law control , that is , insensitivity to any variation and perturbation of the plant parameters , but also possesses the adaptation to control quality of variable structure control systems . the simulation results show the chattering in vsc systems is highly reduced
