本文针对不同类型的输水管线和配水管网系统的特点，应用遗传算法和线性规划等优化设计理论和方法，对其优化设计问题进行了较为系统的研究，成果如下： 1分别建立了重力输水管道系统、重力输水管渠系统、泵站加压输水管道系统以及考虑流量变化的泵站加压输水管道系统优化设计的线性规划数学模型，并提出了计算方法。
