面向对象建模支持环境研究及其工具的研制成为当今国际领域的研究热点，何为优秀的面向对象建模支持环境，目前国际上并没有统一的标准，各个研究机构对其亦持有不同的观点，并根据自己的商业需要开发出符合自己特点的建模产品，这些系统仍存在着众多的弊端，比如几乎都是基于windows技术，通用性差，扩展性方面受到限制等。国内在这方面的研究仍处于起步阶段，已有的建模系统大都基于结构化建模技术或者无法支持最新的面向对象建模技术如uml标准。本文根据作者近几年的研究结果，结合目前和未来的技术从理论上探讨了面向对象建模支持环境，提出了一些建模标准和观点，并详细介绍了基于这种研究成果下自行开发的面向对象建模支持系统umlware ，论述涉及该系统的研制技术、开发思路和建模策略。
