本文的基本思路是,从西方近代学科的价值体现入手,对近代学科进行界定,并将近代学科与中国传统学科略作比较;进而以西学东渐的延伸和中国近代学科的逐步设立为线索,展示近代学科在中国设立的全貌,本文依据史实将整个过程分为三个阶段:一、追求学科设置的实用性时期( 1862 - 1894 ) ,二、追求学科设置的系统性时期( 1895 - 1911 ) ,三、追求学科设置的民族性时期( 1912 - 1922 ) ,对于每一阶段都从当时国内先进人士对近代学科的认识入手,引出学科设置,进而总结出学科设置的特点;在弄清各阶段近代学科设立过程的基础上,揭示近代学科的设立与中国社会近代化的关系,并从各时期围绕近代学科设置的争论中,探讨学科发展与社会文化心理转型的关系;最后从特点、规律出发,从理论上分析学科发展与社会近代化、中国传统文化心理之间的关系。
