在生物地理及区系方面，总结了世界已报道及本研究新发现单元共计88属1183种在世界各大动物地理区的分布情况，结合大陆漂移学说的有关知识，认为小绿叶蝉族应起源于东洋区，起源时间在联合古陆时期(约145ma以前) ；分析了中国已报道及本文新发现该族共40属263种在中国动物地理区划的归属，结果表明，中国小绿叶蝉族的种类分布以东洋区占优势，明显多于古北区，这与世界该族昆虫大多分布于热带、亚热带的结果相一致。
