The main part of this thesis is the group interpretation and research of the metal characters on the wall plate ( qiangpanmingwen ) . the part for interpreting extensively consists of the fruit for researching of the famous experts such as tanglan and qiuxigui . to express the proof and explanation for different ideas , it takes two ways - - - - directly citing for the simple thing and short narration for the complex part as well for the part about the older scholars such as sunyirang , xutongbo and guomoruo . on the base of the upper content it finds and changes the mistakes about the liding , telling and explanation . then the author makes the proof more thoroughly and has his own perspective . but there is also uncertain place for questions to be explored for the future
集释部分主要汇集了唐兰、裘锡圭等墙盘考释者的研究成果，对于诸家的文字考释和训解，比较简略的则直接称引，引证繁复的，则用简短的语言加以叙述，有些涉及孙诒让、徐同柏、郭沫若等前代学者之处，也作了简要的介绍。在集释的基础上，纠正文字的隶定、辨识及训解中的一些错误，并作了进一步的考证，提出了自己的拙见，对于有争议而又不能确定的地方或存疑或谈自己的思考，以便日后研究。
