The relationships between the accumulation of gas hydrates and the typical diapirs in passive continental margin are summarized in primary in this paper which suggest that the factors in passive continental margin including the thick sediment layers , plastic substance , high pressure fluid , outboard volcanic activities and the process of stretch - rupture provide favorable conditions for the formation of the diapirs which can form advantageous environment for gas hydrates coming into being
