Abstract : this paper introduces the concept and major characteristics of the knowledge economy . on this base , this paper also analyses the effects on geography of the coming of the knowledge economy , emphatically probes into the several problems : regional study in geogarphy in the age of knowledge economy ; the comprehensive study of geography in the age of the knowledge economy ; the methodes of geographic study in the age of the knowledge economy and believes that the fundamental concepts of geography will be changed as the space , region , and so on , and that the new technology and synthetical methods will be introduced to geography continously
